John, Nice find! I note that they clearly state the many benefits of using the battery to provide electrical power to replace many mechanical and fluid-pressure systems. Less load on the engine, better mileage. Also the reduced weight of the resulting systems.

Best of all is the confirming quote, "Delphi, a lead-acid leader now, is at work on lithium-polymer batteries that would store three times the energy with the same weight and volume as traditional batteries."
