Spokane editor explains probe of mayor's alleged misconduct By jromenesko@poynter.org (Jim Romenesko) Spokane Spokesman-Review While Spokesman-Review reporters were investigating the Catholic Church sex abuse scandal in 2002, allegations surfaced that Spokane Mayor Jim West sexually molested young boys in the late 1970s when he was a Boy Scout leader and a Spokane County sheriffs deputy.
