Regarding defeating the watermarking protections, I think it's reasonable to assume that the considered opinion of most folks is to do the right thing.

The folks? Sure we might travel five to 10 miles faster than we admit the shining badge in the rolled down window and sure; and sure we might have a reason other than the actual one for being an hour late; and sure more folks than the attendance indicated saw record-breaking feat in sports. But, overall, folks, in great numbers more than not will do the right thing.

Watermarking? How many of you AmericaOnline users took advantage of the hacker email suggesting you could get AOL for free and beat the timer? How many free ISP NetZero users have taken the hacker's advice to defeat the banner ads in order to get some extra real estate on their computer screens? Nope. The very great majority of us do not do business with hackers. And some folks are certain to make copies of cassettes and VCR tapes, but music stores and video stores remain lucrative businesses.

Most products which are popular are not like the old and well-used guitars which have value or well worn-in baseball gloves which grip a ball better. Don't believe me? Check out New York City on trash night, or Havard University dumpsters when the rich kids graduate. As history has shown, in most instances, the old will be replaced for the new. Ask Aladdin.

Will watermarking be defeated? For sure, but it'll only be a here and there, every now and then matter. No big deal.
Thus, it becomes a question: Who can and will provide the product where specific needs are met and products which have the greatest economical and popular appeal. Hey, EDIG's in the running in all of its fields of expertise.

By the way, how 'bout handing over that fifty dollar bill--LOL? I need more EDIG!!!
