OT: Big Easy Restaurant Report Galatoire's in New Orleans named best restaurant in America by the James Beard Foundation. bizneworleans.com Went there last night to celebrate early Mother's Day. Had a celestial trout amandine as entree and a selection of appetizers which included soufle potatoes, shrimp remoulade, and crabmeat. We split a cheesecake dessert laced with spiced-up pecans and maple syrup. Like dying and going to heaven. Interestingly, the Beard Foundation named Willie Mae's Scotch House in N.O. as one of America's classic restaurants. I had no idea it even existed, and don't know anyone who has any idea it does, either. usatoday.com bestofneworleans.com And another classic, Uglesich's, is closing for good due to owner's retirement: nytimes.com Interesting place, Uglesich's.
