No problem Green, truth be told I have no idea if the mkts will trade up or down. History suggests that mkts trade in both directions. But over any given set period they tend to move up, until every decade or so, they get over extended and collapse. My fish brain tells me we are in that period of decline now and I tend to trade with the flow. It has worked for me and if you have been around here for a while, hope you would agree and have capitalized on our mkt perception here.
I noticed we are have gotten a few new faces recently. Just to introduce myself and Velo. I guess you could describe him as a technical analyst. He uses charts and analytics and has made some truly remarkable mkt and stock "calls". I am fascinated by these guys and have much respect for their work but personally I rely on my gut instinct instead. I am a bit of a fundamentalist with a true love affair with technology. My own background evolved from the currency and derivative mkts while a trader in Tokyo and NYC. I moved into consulting for funds getting into emerging mkts and needed the forex expertise to buy foreign equities for their funds. I started watching what fund managers were buying and was flabbergasted at some of their crap performance. I always felt I could out perform them and a few years ago set out on my own to do just that. Trading can be lonely so to combat that I decided to join a "thread" called the WallStStand. There I met Velo and many of the original gang that makes up this thread today. I believe I have worked with some of the most talented and best traders around including Anthony, Steve Pluvia, Jenna and many more and learned from all of them while developing my own style and what worked for me. Note everyone tends to have different styles and what works for some doesn't work for others. My other close circle of friends are in the telecom and fiber optics networking area and have been a great source of information to me in regards to where the hottest trends are or aren't. I felt I was fortunate to realize the potential of F/Os and rode JDS-Fitel from 12 bucks through many splits and mergers including ETEK, OCLI, Uniphase and SDLI.
All are welcome here though I would hope we respect each others views and try to learn from each others posts as opposed to resorting to name calling etc, which adds nothing to the dialogue.
Our goal is the same, beat the funds at their own game and survive in this inhospitable world we call daytrading.
