Re: Real estate prices.

There were times when the market in NYC has been like a feeding frenzy. Prices well over the initial asking are common. We got our apartment over 2 years ago for the asking price, after initial bid below, but we quickly went up, and fortunately nobody bid higher. I think we were lucky, because we couldn't afford to get into a bidding war (the required down payments are generally 25% for the kind of apartment we got). Now, I am sitting on a nice unrealized gain.
