Mark, Way back when that project was alive I had high hopes for Apple being able to bridge that gap. When they canned that project droves of people lost heart. I was amazed at how Scully/Amelio could be such a maroon. If they in fact do that they will be able to gain share overnight by OS sales at 95% margin, as well as sell Aptels. They would of course have to compete with all the screwdriver shops, but they would then capture share with parallel ventures as well as their own sales. It would be legal cloning. If Apple did not sell the OS, but bound it into a system it might not get as many sales as you might think if the price is too high. When you enter the Wintel market you have to compete with them. Too few people will respond to Apple as a name at a premium price.
5 years ago it would be a clear winner. Now it will have to run beside win98 etc. I note that the ealier Apples were easier to connect than modern ones, and modern ones crash more than the earlier ones. Not as much as WIntels,,but a higher rate of it as there is more complexity. A portover might be as crash prone as Windows and have as its claim the Apple look only.
Many exclusive Apple Apps will not run and would need a new ver.

But an exciting concept. I wait with anticipation.

Bill
