Eric, Argue all you want. My main comments were to get Apple back into managed clones to make a parallel to the Wintel market, based on their OS whereby Apple would sell the OS like MSFT sells Win95. In addition Apple would sell a ROM set. Both these items would have very high margins and they would allow a cloner to make a motherboard add all the parts and make a clone. The price of the OS and ROm set would vary with the system built, but would embody a return to Apple to encourage clones, but not too cheap so they would take Apple sales excessively. There needs to be parallelism to get share growth.
IBM lost all aspect of the business, and lost out. Apple had tight control of all aspects and priced itself out of the water(like blew itself out of the water). So a middle ground is needed.

Apple has been cutting costs as they dropped sales, they made error after error in sales projections, over and under produced assorted boxes and in general lost in all respects.

Jobs has to take care as his personality needs to be checked or it will do great harm to Apple.
We still are waiting for a turnaround in sales. Profits have turned as sales have fallen due to cost cuts. An increase of 10% a year in sales will mean Apples market share will keep dropping, even as Apple makes money and grows. Apple needs to grow sales by around 40% a year for 5 years to even start to come back.
Make no mistake Apple is still deep in the woods. Many of it's market niches are still in decline as Wintels eat away at them.

And lastly what is your point?. If I stop attacking Apple and now you have started by recycling old posts? What if I did that to you?
So smell what you make.

Bill
