The main thing that's driven the zinc shortage is that China has gone from being a major exporter to a major importer of the metal during the last 2 years. Therefore, at the margin, the supply side of the equation has changed dramatically. And on the demand side, as we know, consumption has increased throughout the world during that period -- not just in China/India. Simple supply-demand stuff really, but reaching a critical point with the stocks so low and no increase in mine production in sight. JMHO.
