Handhelds are goods highly complementary to your main irons, not substitutive, as the article suggests. I've been using a Pilot almost since day 1, having one of the original devices before USR changed the name to PalmPilot. Mine says "Pilot 5000" on the back. It's useful, but frankly, far from perfect.
