Well that's not an even bet -- I'll lay odds that China and Russia will side with Iran -- initially stymieing the "UN" and later that the Russian becomes confrontational towards the US and Israel. The assumption that all nations desire peace and security is invalid -- they don't – Russia and the PRC seek economic and military supremacy, just as the islamists seek religious domination at any price. These short-sighted and masochistic positions, because they are based upon irreconcilable philosophical presuppositions, must climax in confrontation. IMHO, Western civilization should think twice before buying into any of Putin's B.S. and/or placing trust in his self-serving rhetoric. The USSR (Russia) has never abandoned it's goal of world domination -- nor has the PRC. Back before the alleged demise of the USSR one of their strategies was to cut ties with their satellites and let the West pay the freight. As I recall, that policy was outlined in Foreign Affairs in the late 1980's.
