In-Stat Estimates the Paging IC Market to Peak in 2000
12:55 p.m. Jan 06, 1998 Eastern

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 6, 1998--In-Stat
expects the revenue from paging ICs to peak at $511.3 million
in 2000, with a gradual decline commencing in 2001.

Johnson explained that subscriber growth would be most substantial
in two-way paging applications, with one-way paging holding the
largest installed base of subscribers. The sale of new pagers will
follow a similar trend. Although alternative paging
applications, such as the new pager card for 3Com's Palm Pilot,
are just now ramping up, In-Stat expects alternative paging
applications to be eight percent of the market by 2001.
