"Unlike you, I do not deal in perceptions & feelings when I
make assertions about others. "

Boorishness and inappropriateness are per se perceptions, and those perceptions rely on feelings. That's just the way it is. Facts are different sorts of animals.

Now, on to the meat thing.

Interestingly I find I am very much in agreement with the early Christians on my view of the body (although I do not consider the body sinful. But I do not consider the idea that the body IS sinful boorish or inappropriate; it's simply another way of looking at the body.)

If we were on SI to simply share POV's that everybody held in common, or that were all mainstream, SI would be a pretty dull place (imo). Holding a different POV and mentioning it on a discussion board, is hardly boorish and insensitive (imo), it seems to me the whole point of discussions (though maybe that's not true for everyone; I don't know). It would be insensitive to tell someone that at a funeral, but SI is no funeral. It is supposed to be a place where adults discuss different view points- although I think the "different" part challenges some people a little more than is comfortable. IMO, of course.

Interesting read about death and Jesus- I couldn't remember him talking much about death, and the only things he ever said about funeral rites were negative:
