steve, when individuals have a predetermined mindsets, bias, there is not much that can be done to persuade individuals to another point of view. That is why pre-polling is done at the being of an election, campaign candidate investigation takes place, negative media is used to evoke the potential bias, continual polling to test the impact of the media advertisements, and electronics and monitoring to get out the vote on election day. That is why campaigns are so much fun-you can manipulate the voter through their own bias. A large number of posters on this site have indicated their own bias over time. That is where the slogan, "Candidates are not packaged, the voter is packaged" comes from.
