This message is in response to a message from Lorne regarding Presidential election. For some reason my response did not print as a response so am posting to the board generally.

Lorne

I will support whoever runs as a moderate/conservative candidate against Obama or Hillary or against whomever the Dems field---------at this time Obama is going full tilt campaigning, hence I am assuming he will run again.

Cain(Cane?) is new for me as was Pawlenty who was talked about in advance as just the right candidate.
Bachmann is also a new face

If I were to pose the question as though I were going to be a local/State/National convention delegate I would be seeking both the most electable candidate for the popular vote and also a balance in electoral votes that they would carry.

Virginia of course is one of the states that Obama wants to carry again-------Obama's Harvard friend former DNC Chairman Tim Kaine is running for State Senate to fill James Webb's seat.

Given that Virginia took all 3 top offices in 2010 in Virginia there is a very, very good opportunity to put that Senate seat being vacated by James Webb in the Republican column and for the electoral votes of Virginia to be for the Republican Candidates.

I believe both of the above are doable.

So then we need to look at the other states that are possible and bring them along.
