That was an actual question from a friend who was a painter. The day I took my first grown up job, as a file clerk in a bank, and quit try to sculpt for a living she looked at me and very honestly asked 'why did you decide to become an enemy of the people?' Of course this was in a different age when people actually used phrases like enemy of the people and up against the wall ******-******.

I am always looking for some nice tails but only seem to run into plain Janes.

Fred Saberhagen sounds familiar. I'm grokking on the cover of a paperback with a picture of a rocket ship when I repeat the name. Unfortunately the particular memories associated with the name appear to be attached to the few surviving brain cells from my 'better living through chemistry' period. Much data was lost.
