I "walk the walk" when it comes to masturbation and condoms. When each of my girls turned twelve, I gave her a copy of "Our Bodies, Our Selves" with a bookmark in the masturbation chapter. I told them that this act of self love is the only one I will not personally teach them, but it's important nonetheless. They were both appropriately embarrassed and have both come back with questions over time. I'm pleased to be a part of their learning process, and their support, as they see their way through the development of their own sexuality. I wish my mother had done it for me.
