Cirrus, I remember Scumbria was touting the SPEC95 scores when Athlon was first released back in 1999. Then Intel demonstrated that good compiler technology can carry the Pentium III past the Athlon. After that, AMD started de-emphasizing SPEC scores. (AMD published SPEC2000fp scores, but not SPEC2000int scores, and even their SPEC2000fp scores were beaten by Intel a week or two later.)

Anyway, for me, gaming performance is key. I'm also looking forward to playing and encoding MP4 videos in the far future. My guess is that Pentium 4 will be well-suited for both. I don't expect Pentium 4 to do well on office apps, but then again, I think my spell-check on my word processor runs fast enough.

P.S. - Still waiting for my free PC from Intel. I hear I can switch to a laptop for an upgrade fee.
