Taipei, June 7 (Bloomberg) -- Via Technologies Inc. introduced its new Samuel processor at the Taipei Computex computer show, the Commercial Times reported, citing marketing department manager Tseng Yung-chien. The chip, expected to reach processing speeds of up to 667 megahertz, will go into full production next month. The Samuel processor, manufactured using leading-edge 0.18 micron process technology, will compete with Intel Corp.'s Celeron line of processors in the low-end computer segment, the paper said.
Via's sales surged 270 percent to NT$10.7 billion ($348 million) in the year through May 31.
