The Hunt begins. SB-1070 gives border vigilantes a “license to kill”
for a group of illegal immigrants who were shot at.

Sheriff Tony Estrada says that deputies received the call around 9:30 a.m. from the group who said they were shot at by 2 men wearing camouflage and using high-powered rifles. One of the 5 illegal immigrants was shot in the forearm and treated at an area hospital for his wounds.

Agents from the U.S. Border Patrol searched the area with helicopters and on foot but were unable to locate the shooters. Authorities were also notified by the illegal immigrants of human remains found near where they were shot, deputies located the remains and are investigating.

It looks like someone may have heeded the call of Carmen Mercer on behalf of the now defunct Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, to come to the border “locked and loaded”, or Barbara Coe’s call to be “locked and loaded” at the recent nativist soiree in Phoenix.

This is hardly a surprise and has been anticipated, as attacks against migrants have been ongoing since the formation of the vigilante movement 5 or 6 years ago. We all remember the home made video from the Mountain Minutemen, Robert “Little Dog” Crook, who posted a video in which he exhorted that murder was the way to stop illegal entry. He first denied the video, which showed a migrant being shot at long range, then admitted to posting it as a joke, etc.
