You've been honest enough to admit that to you, and your friends, you don't just think that your ideas are superior, people who think as you do are superior people.

I have? Nice of you to say so, but I don't think that's the case.

I do think that people who think are superior to people who don't, at least those who wilfully don't, as is the quality of an idea subjected to thought superior to a mindless brain-fart. So I do have diminished respect for the great unwashed, or at least for their ideas. My 3D friends are people who think, with the occasional brain misfire. And you are someone who thinks, with the occasional brain misfire. My 3D friends and I share some ideas. And you and I share some ideas. Politically my ideas are much more attuned with yours than with some of theirs. The only thing I have in common with all my 3D friends but not with you is that we're all non-religious. So I must say I don't get the joke, although I don't mind your making me the object of it.

that's why I call myself part of the Great Unwashed.

I don't think it's healthy to identify oneself with a disfunctional group, even as a joke. I've always felt the same way when successful blacks do that, a common practice. It's an unwarranted downer.
