Hi Joel..To me This roll out of web on the TV cable is more like a pilot program..maybe it gets recived in one area and not another,
sure it will work, but how well will the public buy it ?
uping recever speed at this time beyound what I have may not do
much, ( the back bone of the web is running over it's rated capacity now some times as much as 180% ) like my 28.8 modem
is not the limiting factor during peck hours right now..,
it's sitting idle 50% of the time waiting on a responce or for
packets to arrive..no one is really addressing the backbone over
load..and web over cable TV won't address that problem..
to top it off we have wireless stuff catching on..lots of people
don't like their cable tv provider to begine with,
( me makes for one more ) they are constantly fighting to up rates,
not reduce them,..as soon as the digital tv with the small dishes
gets just a little cheaper I'm going that way..
So all in all I got a wait and see on web TV..look at how many
good ideas have floped in the computer area..this angle may go
but it's to risky for me..untill I see how the public takes to
it an in more than one or two places too..the public is fickle,
and often turns it's nose up on a better system..that's why
Microsoft is so popular..
