No Deal for Air Canada and Pilots
Friday May 30, 2:51 pm ET

TORONTO (Reuters) - Air Canada (Toronto:AC.TO - News) told an Ontario court on Friday that it had failed to reach a last-minute agreement with its 3,400 pilots on job and wage cuts needed to help the airline in its restructuring under protection from creditors.
Air Canada lawyers asked the court for direction on the matter. Obtaining an agreement with the pilots was key to some C$600 million worth of concessions already agreed to by other big unions at the Montreal-based airline. A spokeswoman for Air Canada said it was "business as usual" at the carrier. The company's stock was halted on the Toronto Stock Exchange (News - Websites) on Friday.
