Republicans are sure to be cheered by a new Star-Ledger/Eagleton Poll that reports Jon Corzine is not as invincible as was once thought.

“Of the registered 519 registered voters in that sample, Corzine’s job approval rating stood at 53 percent. That was a drop from 61 percent in a February poll. A majority said Corzine had either minor (46 percent) or no real accomplishments (21 percent) since winning election to the Senate in 2000. “

Corzine only has a 44% favorable rating. Forrester, his likely Republican opponent, has a 38% favorable rating.

“In head-to-head matchups, Corzine garnered 42 percent support against Forrester’s 29 percent. The senator’s gap was wider against Schundler, 44 percent to 24 percent.”

2005 Virginia Governor Race
