You'd think by now they would have learned. As I'd think by now that YOU would have learned. Listen carefully: most of the time, MMs make their money on the spread. I guessed earlier this afternoon that they were willing to buy on the ask because they were anticipating a late-session rally. It happened. No big deal if you're the investor, but if you're the MM you'll make a buck. The MMs know what they're doing. They are, after all, professionals.
