In my opinion, sweet potatoes (unavailable here) are best when baked the traditional way, in a traditional oven for an hour.

Yams, on the other hand, should be boiled until nearly done, then peeled, sliced, and arranged in a generously buttered baking dish. Salt lightly, sprinkle with brown sugar and orange rind; dot with more butter. Bake for about 15 minutes, or until slightly browned.
