first liars then cats...
ok - keeping in mind that i was always atleast a bit drunk during those days, here is my recolection...you each have six dice and a cup (for the dice not protection), you turn your cups over and that is your hand. you "do not" let your oppentent see said hand. sixes beat fives, ect., and 3 fives beats 2 sixes, ect. unless you have a killer hand and want to get it over with, you start low.
1- "i have 2 threes"
2- "i have 3 fours"
1- "i have 3 fives"
2- "i have 3 sixes"
player 1 then calls. if player 2 has 3 or more sixes she wins, if not, player 1 (we'll call it a him) wins no matter what he has. it's similar to poker in the face, voice, and general mind games. i was good, but i seldom beat my boss at a hand (this was a bar, of course). no one did. he was a very intelligent, well read man with a marvelous sense of humor and dry wit. kinda like "most" of y'all.<g> he taught me much about getting along in the world through this simple game.
and that, andrew, is one thing barflys do to pass the time. and to think some people think we're just hanging out getting drunk.<g>
