Dell Profits From Buying, Selling Own Options, Forbes ASAP Says

Round Rock, Texas, April 6 (Bloomberg) -- Dell Computer Corp. has made more than $3.1 billion in the past three years by buying and selling options on its own stock, more than the $2.5 billion in net income it reported during the same period, Forbes ASAP magazine reported, citing no sources. The No. 1 direct seller of personal computers buys and sells puts and calls on its stock and profits from each, as its stock price has grown more than 4,000 percent since 1996. Microsoft Corp. and Intel Corp. are among other technology companies making similar investments, the magazine said.

Officials at Round Rock, Texas-based Dell weren't immediately available to comment.
