Re: Young Folk Portfolio -- Add On Buys & Sells
  Portfolio Objective:
The portfolio value needs to grow at an 8.25% CAGR. The dividend cash flows need to grow at a 13.8% CAGR.
A full position in the Taxable Account is $8,000 for equities and $4,000 for CEF's and ETF's. A full position in the Roth Account is $4,000.
For the average investor (me), bear markets are a normal part of the buy and hold investing experience, and a passive strategy like dollar-cost averaging can be the best way to lower cost basis and set oneself up for success once the market eventually turns around.
I've been wanting to get the number of holdings in this account down to a total of 50 companies. With the sales made today I was able to accomplish that.
Additionally, the four assets I sold were all showing losses so I'm able to use those losses to offset capital gains that were taken at the beginning of the year.
  Today I sold:
  ARDC .. 313 shares EXG .. 472 shares RYLD .. 212 shares XYLD .. 101 shares
The proceeds from these sales, along with the dividends that hit the account, I had over $15,000 to work with, all of which was invested in the following. The objective here was to bring these positions up in size. These moves were all made in the taxable account where a full position is $8,000.
  Today I added:
  Company -- Position Size
  ABT .. 10 shares .. $9,036 D .. 22 shares .. $5,878 DE .. 3 shares .. $10,434 DPZ .. 4 shares .. $6,419 ELV .. 2 shares .. $8,990 HD .. 4 shares .. $9,044 MA .. 3 shares .. $8,195 NEE .. 14 shares .. $7,912 NKE .. 15 shares .. $6,387 NSC .. 5 shares .. $7,558 PG .. 8 shares .. $8,471 SO .. 16 shares .. $9,080 SYY .. 14 shares .. $6,602 TGT .. 7 shares .. $8,332 |
