James...You've missed the whole point....what is more important here? a few measly thousand Apple techno-geeks or the bottom line of adequately compensating Dr. Amelio.... Don't you think that Dr. Amelio comes first? I would much rather see Gil get his million shares of Apple valued at a current $15,5000,000.00 AND the one million options he'll also be receiving....those million options will allow him to leverage 100 million shares of Apple stock... with that kind of money he could buy a couple of nuclear devices and finish off MSFT once and for all.... (this is known in the industry as the Dr. Strangeglove Play.......very rarely used, but in Apple's case NOW would be the time to do it.) I've got faith in Amelio to create the "event" that levels the MSFT/Apple playing field...
