Semiconductor Equipment . . . Asyst upgraded at Adams Harkness to Buy from Market Perform and raises their target to $20 from $12. The firm believes that ASYT is close to landing a large AMHS order at LG-Philips worth about $35 mln, continues to believe that Asyst-Shinko will dominate the next batch of 300mm semi AMHS design decisions with likely wins at Toshiba and SMIC, and believe that ASYT has made progress with AU Optronics and NEC-SVA for future LCD fabs.

Semiconductors . . . Loop Capital believes that Philips Electronics guidance represents another positive data point for the semiconductor business. According to firm, it appears that the semiconductor recovery is building a solid base and could continue its impressive growth in the near future.

Lattice Semi estimates cut following mid-quarter call. SG Cowen reduces its 3rd quarter revenue estimate to $50.8 million from $54 million following management's guidance last night on mid-quarter call. According to firm, management cut revenue guidance from a range of $52-$55 million to a range of $51-$53 million.

Advanced Micro upped to Outperform at Friedman Billings Ramsey and raises price target to $16. Based on recent channel checks, firm thinks AMD is seeing 3rd quarter sales running ahead of expectations due to both higher units and higher blended avg selling price on its Athlon XP products.
