GREATER HARTFORD OPEN NOTEBOOK

Tewell exhibiting a certain magnetism

CROMWELL, Connecticut--(AP)--Doug Tewell knows how to attract

attention, magnetically speaking. Tewell started the week in Fort

Lauderdale, Florida, "taking treatment" for his stiff right elbow. The

treatment involves low-level electromagnetic frequency waves intended

to alter his body's magnetic fields.

"I hope I'm doing it justice," he explained Friday. "It helps to

sort of relax the magnetic field. It helps healing inside your

system."

Tewell ought to know what works. He's had surgery on his other

elbow, and said he only needed the so-called resonance therapy for two

days before being able to swing pain-free.

The treatment obviously has made a believer out of the

48-year-old Tour veteran: He shot his second 66 of the tournament, for

an 8-under finish.
