HenryD,

I do not follow MarketWatch but even if some are reporting this as -24 cents for the quarter the one-time charges and the net -4 cent loss reported set the base for much better quarters in 1999. I think the analyst estimates will reflect this or alternatively we will simply report earnings much better than analyst estimates come the end of the first quarter.

Under either scenario we will see a much improved share price if the semi-equip sector continues to do well. Your question is the same as mine on the ramp up in demand. I plan to go back and see what happened in the 1997 ramp up. I think at present we are seeing less capacity expansion and more upgrades which may be a negative for Cohu vs TER but capacity expansion is certainly going to be next. Cohu as the largest test handler by far domestically and with customers like Intel, Micron, and Motorola it should do better than most. TER in the back-end and AMAT/others in the front-end garner alot of sales in Korea where I believe there will be minimal equipment sales over the next year or two. Therefore the customer base of COHU should do better than most and have the ability to continue purchasing equipment.

Bottom line, I think the sector will do better than most currently expect and COHU will do better than the sector as a hole being the number 1 domestic test handler.

Good luck.
