That's the hope, of course, if you are investing for income: eventually the bear market will end and when prices rise, dividends reinvested will propel the portfolio higher.

However, if the current bear turns into a secular bear, a longer term downtrend that spans at least a decade, where dividends get cut, the major thesis underlying the Steven Bavaria model of dividend income investing gets shattered and backfires.
