Brian, It sounds to me that your broker didn't do a good job for you. Possibly if you had put in a market order instead of a limet order you may have been filled easier, but that puts you at risk to be filled above the ask. My suggestion would be to get your broker to get you a fill at the ask while you are on the phone with them. This shouldn't be to hard for them to do. I use Brown&Co. as a broker and can usually get fills at the bid or ask in short order. For fills inbetween nothing is for sure until the bid or ask is adjusted to meet your price. The BB is just not the most liquid place and you have to make sure that your broker is looking out for you.
