Jews lived everywhere in europe as far as I know, but were many times subjected to the occasional pogrom, and depending on who was conqering that part of town at the time, were usually caught in the crossfire. In modern times I believe that many, and I am speaking for myself now, prefer beverly hills and manhattan to tel aviv and jerusalem, but there may come a time in the far out future when america no longer is as hospitable as it is today ($200 per barrel oil?) and the war's costs become unbearable that many of the usa jews will opt for Israel, which could fulfill that prophesy because if ever there comes a time when the US is not hospitable, then the rest of the world is probably already in flames and the end for many will be indeed near. One can look at hollywood, the industry not the town as an example. do you think that barabra streisand and steven shpeilberg want to leave LA? Answer, today no, but if LA became unsafe and rioting and killing of jews was happening in mass, they would be the first out, but out to where? that is why there is an Israel, because after the USA< there is "no where"
