Well, it actually addresses a real problem with some sort of real thought. But you can see just how difficult serious solutions would be. We've neglected education in these areas for so long, the problem has simply grown to these dimensions. And the solution is expensive.

And that's not all. If teachers in k-12 were paid at these levels, it would be less than a heart beat before college teachers/university professors would demand wage parity, meaning some level above k-12 which reflects more education, etc.

Would they be willing to give up tenure? If ways could be found to protect faculty members from political witchhunts of the sort we are seeing now and ways to keep the good faculty buddies of administrators from receiving the best salaries, it would certainly make for serious talking points. But both are very serious stumbling blocks.
