Industry Analysts, Experts to Lead Conference Sessions at
First-Ever Telecommuting & Home Office Exposition &
Conference

Innovative Technological and Managerial Advancements to be Highlighted

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 11, 1997--Leading industry analysts and experts will host a number of conference track sessions at the premiere of this year's Telecommuting & Home Office Exposition & Conference, Oct. 15 - 17 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco.

The sessions will offer a unique blend of technological and managerial strategies for representatives of any organization currently involved in -- or about to undertake -- a telecommuting/remote access
program.

The telecommuting movement's main event, the Telecommuting & Home Office Exposition & Conference, or THOE, is owned by IDG and produced by MHA Event Management. The show will address the needs of corporations and individuals as they establish remote businesses, field networks and home offices.

Conference attendees at this year's event can choose among more than 40 sessions in which industry experts will talk about the most innovative and exciting technological and managerial advancements
in telecommuting. Specifically, the conference sessions will provide:

- ``how-to'' strategies on connecting the remote worker to the
enterprise (from LANs and WANs to ISDN connections and
remote access software);

- real-world applications for telecommuting programs and tips
on how to set them up; success stories from participating organizations; management techniques to improve existing telecommuting and remote worker programs; and first-hand looks at the latest portable computing products (including laptops, hand-held devices and multifunction peripherals).

``This show is a must for representatives of any organization that has a telecommuting program in place or is about to implement one at any time in the future,'' said Nina Carrara, show director for the Telecommuting & Home Office Exposition & Conference.

``Attendees will get a first-hand look at the latest and hottest technology available to create or improve an existing program and a clear understanding of the immediate benefits that can be achieved through telecommuting. They'll also get to hear from and speak with representatives at leading companies like Hewlett-Packard and Pacific Bell that have defined successful remote access programs.''

Among the many industry experts -- known for setting the pace for the shift toward telecommuting in today's business environment -- who will be leading the sessions:

Deepak Kamlani, Executive Director, Vendors' ISDN Association
David P. Mead, President & CEO, Telecommuting Success Inc.
Tim Bajarin, President, Creative Strategies International
Emily Bassman, Director, Virtual Office Development, Pacific Bell
Linda Russell, Senior Partner, Telecommuting Consultants International Inc.

Stephen T. Smith, Market Development Manager, 3Com Corp.
Ray Boggs, Director, Small Business & Home Office Research,

IDC/LINK

- Jerry Cashman, Workplace Strategies Manager, Hewlett-Packard Co.

- William R. Pape, Co-Founder, Verifone Inc.

In addition to the conference sessions, attendees can attend keynote sessions hosted separately by Ascend Communications Inc. President and CEO Mory Ejabat and Forbes ASAP Editor Rich
Karlgaard.

In ``Making the Remote Worker Less Remote,'' Ejabat, an expert in wide area networks and remote access, will speak Oct. 16 about the technological challenges faced by corporations and carriers as more employees conduct business outside of the traditional office.

Karlgaard, on Oct. 17, will examine what companies must do to prepare their work force for a world of ever-increasing connectivity in ``The Continuous Information Loop: Staying Connected.''
