Michael, yes, so if 1:1 now with the crusty old GSM European system, what will European suppliers do when capacity is reached? I don't see why they will just put the new improved 3:1 GSM in when they can put 10:1 CDMA systems in with customer benefits over and above price reduction.

By the time their capacity is reached, CDMA infrastructure will be pouring off many production lines from many suppliers and prices will be as low as GSM systems. CDMA is not inherently expensive. A chip is pretty much a chip, a cable a cable and a cell site a cell site.

Off peak prices are already so low that people use cell phones quite freely. CDMA capacity means demand will take off with the prices that can be offered. Nextwave Telecom's business plan is totally dependent on this. The same thing will apply in Europe.

But I stick with the price auction system. Show the current price on the display so people can choose to call or not. Nobody has mentioned it yet, but it seems the best way to maintain maximum utilization, customer benefits and competitive advantage. That will also mean never any need for busy signals and maximum profits. People who want fixed price plans could still have them, but flexible people could choose the auction system. If there is high demand at any particular time, just move the price up a bit to maintain supply and demand in perfect harmony.

Come on Qualcomm, put some software engineers to work!!!! Tom, what do you think of THAT!

Maurice.
