I think it is a good lesson to do what Chuzzlewit has indicated. Most searches are not intelligent and if your name is in a website, the search may find it. I have done a search on my name in the past and have been surprised also. Not that I really care too much, but I understand why some may be concerned. I will also occasionally look up my family name and see if some of my relatives have web sites. Also, I believe most of us are listed in an internet phone book and it is a good exercise to see if you are. SI does not do this, but if you have ever registered for a contest or at a website your information can be sold to interested parties for promotion or sales. Always read the disclaimer and understand the rules before you do anything on the web. I would not call it paranoia, but being diligent in the control of your personal information. In fact, I think I'm overdue for a search on my name. I check every few months.
