Well, most bears aren't worth eating. Especially the salmon-eating ones. We pack a 375 H&H on the job here. It's a pain. I'd rather have a pistol, even though they are inadequate for grizzlies. The main thing is keeping your eyes and ears open and making a lot of noise so they can get out of the way. There are a ton of bear stories. Maybe I should start a board for 'em. Darn maybe I will. Here she goes: Subject 50458 Alaska moose are a lot bigger than the ones down south. I saw the biggest one ever shot in a full mount, and it was awesome. I've never shot one but the guys I know who have say they'll never do it again that far from their boat or rig. I've packed elk out many times down south, and moose are sometimes twice as heavy. I know upstate New York well. Worked there in the sixties. Maybe we'll talk some more on the bear story board.
