AXCESS Announces Low Cost Digital Video Recorder
LANcorder priced as much as 50% below industrial VCRs
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 9, 2000--AXCESS Inc. (Nasdaq:AXSI - news) announced today a new digital video recording product which provides the features of today's time lapse VCRs but at a dramatically lower price.

The LANcorder(TM) surpasses VCRs by not requiring tape head cleaning or tape administration while also offering remote programming, instant time/date search, simultaneous recording/playback, and remote viewing over the LAN network or Internet. The product also surpasses other digital video recorders on the market by recording from two to ten times more video per megabyte of digital storage capacity. Uniquely, the product can be purchased as a system or as software-only, running on a customer provided Microsoft Windows PC.

Recording capacity has traditionally been a problem with digital recording given the data-intensive nature of digital video and the need to record multiple cameras. Using its patented video compression technology, the LANcorder(TM) provides unmatched recording efficiency. Through the use of a software-based multiplexing feature called LANmux(TM), it can record from as many as 16 simultaneous cameras from the network per recorder. Recording parameters are set by camera. Recording can be on the local LAN or over the Internet, providing unlimited flexibility in recording location. Local playback or remote viewing is provided through Microsoft's Windows standard media player.

``The recording efficiency is a breakthrough in our ability to record multiple cameras with good video performance. By using the LAN/Internet network, the video is viewable anywhere. And, being distributed across the network, it is totally scalable for small to large camera configurations, giving better performance than centralized archives. Perhaps even more exciting, this product makes industrial video recording a simple software application,' commented Allan Griebenow, president & ceo of AXCESS Inc.

The system will be launched at next week's ISC (International Security Conference) in Las Vegas, Nevada. The company will be exhibiting (booth No. 669) and demonstrating this new product at the Las Vegas Convention Center, March 14th-16th.

In addition to the Prism Video line of products, AXCESS' ActiveTag(TM) RFID products provide automatic identification solutions to the corporation for improving asset utilization enterprise-wide. More information on all AXCESS products is available on the company's web site www.axcessinc.com.
