Obama on Lincoln

-- PoliPundit

Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) is probably the most over-rated politician in Washington, D.C.

A run-of-the-mill, hard-left extremist, Obama opposed the PATRIOT Act before he became a US senator. He declared that, had he been in the US Senate at the time, he would have joined ultra-liberal Senator Russ Feingold in his lonely vote against the PATRIOT Act.

While a state senator, Obama even voted against a bill banning “live birth abortions”, i.e. the murder of babies born alive.

On issue after issue, Obama was far to the left of even most liberal Democrats.

But, since he stepped into the limelight at the 2004 Democrat National Convention, Obama has basked in the Lying Liberal Media’s adulation. Thanks to his African-American ethnicity, liberals have built up Obama to the point where he now votes in the US Senate with an eye on a future White House run. His voting record in the US Senate is virtually identical to that of Hillary Rodham - “moderate” on symbolic votes, ultra-liberal on everything that really matters.

All this attention is giving Obama a John-McCain-size ego. Mickey Kaus notes Obama’s latest statement:
“In Lincoln’s rise from poverty, his ultimate mastery of
language and law, his capacity to overcome personal loss
and remain determined in the face of repeated defeat -in
all this, he reminded me not just of my own struggles …”
Remarks Kaus:
Not just of his own struggles. … Good to see Obama
retaining his essential modesty. The danger for someone
in his position is that he might let it go to his head!
