China executes man for embezzlement

BEIJING — A court in the central Chinese city of Chongqing executed the general manager of a government-run agricultural company this week for embezzling 11.91 million yuan ($1.44 million), state media reported Thursday.

On Tuesday morning, Hu Qineng received a lethal injection according to a verdict announced earlier the same day by the highest court in Chongqing, the Beijing Morning Post reported. (Kyodo News)
