There are some "good guys" in Hollywood.
"Action Hero
SIX MONTHS AGO, actor Denzel Washington paid a visit to the Brooks Army Medical Center in San Antonio to visit soldiers recovering from injuries sustained in Iraq and Afghanistan. While there, he also toured the "Fisher House," a charity-supported facility that hosts patients' families who can't afford to stay in a hotel. denzel.jpg
He apparently was very impressed.
Washington gave one of the biggest donations ever made to Fisher House Foundation Inc., which operates guest facilities for families with loved ones recuperating in military hospitals, an official at the nonprofit said Wednesday.
"Denzel and his wife, Pauletta, did send us a check with their donation," said James Weiskopf of Rockville, Md., the foundation's vice president for communications.
"While we do not disclose the amount of a donation without approval from the donor, we can acknowledge that it is one of the most significant received in our history," Weiskopf said.
An email has been circulating, erroneously reporting that Denzel signed a rather generous donation check "on the spot" to cover the cost of building another Fisher House. While the true story is a little bit less dramatic, it does not at all diminsh the generosity of the donation. The Washingtons have also accepted positions on the Fisher House Board of Trustees.
God bless you Denzel and Pauletta, and thank your very much!" indepundit.com |
