Amy, Bois (sp?) was asked in an interview why the Republicans declined a state wide recount, when asked by a judge in the SC hearing. He said they knew they would lose (obviously biased so take that for what it's worth). Also, it could delay things so long that FL elector votes wouldn't get counted, and Gore would have the larger number of EC votes. Third, it would eliminate one of their appeal points to the US SC, that the recount was unfair. These are the tactical reasons, I believe, that Bush declined a statewide recount when asked by the FL SC, which seemed to be leaning towards that remedy. John John
