I've sent a letter to Ralph Nader, asking that he renounce his candidacy for a cabinet post under Kerry. Here it is... If you have friends that are politically active, I'd suggest they send it too. They can cut and paste it into Nader's contact page.

==================== SNIP ===============================

Greetings,

I'm a long time supporter of the consumer and political positions of Mr. Ralph Nader. I'm disheartened to have to decline my support of Mr. Nader at this time. I feel that the loss of rights and openness that has occurred under Bush cabal represents the single largest threat to liberty that I've seen in my lifetime. The only goal I have for this year is the defeat of GWB by the only other candidate who can draw votes in sufficient number: John Kerry. There is no way that the mainstream of America can support Ralph Nader at this time and I believe he must, in turn, support the only viable alternative to the cynical and dangerous Texas Mafia that inhabits the White House now.

I believe Mr. Nader must renounce his candidacy and instead, place his support behind Kerry in exchange for a prominent cabinet position. The cabinet officers wield tremendous power in terms of making the DETAILED plans for national policy and in this capacity I think he’d excel as the Secretary of the Interior, Secretary of Energy, or any of the other senior staff positions.

2004 may be one of the last opportunities for the electorate to reduce the influence of corporate privilege in the White House and I think that while Kerry certainly is not my idea of a great populist candidate, the power of the Center and Left has been fragmented so heavily, that the only good that can happen this year is a defeat of George Walker Bush, sending a message that the electorate can't be manipulated in its entirety. I would welcome Mr. Nader's running in a field of candidates that were not financed by corporate wealth, all focusing on the broad list of issues that face us, but even Mr. Nader must know in heart, honestly, that such a time is not now.

I'm sorry to have lost the idealism of my youth and settle for “getting the bums out". But, alas, that is the state of current U.S. politics.

With warmest regards and sincerity,
