Ok, but how about noticing that if the US and Iraqi government have to send in Shia and Kurdish units to control the Sunni then we have civil war

Too simplistic. It's not Shia & Kurds vs Sunni but Shia & Kurds & most Sunni vs the Baathist & jihadi hardcore types, fighting with imported splodeydopes and Syrian help.

If there is to be civil war in Iraq, why are we taking sides? Do we even know that a Shia dominated Iraq would be a better Iraq than a divided Iraq, or a Sunni dominated one?

Because we think that supporting the 95% who want a decent government for all Iraqis is a better idea than supporting the 5% who want a Baathist revival or a Taliban state. You really think it makes no difference whether Iraq becomes a decent democracy or or an Islamist totalitarian state (after another bloodbath)? To the Iraqis, to us, to the geopolitical balance of the world? I suggest you think again.

Anyone who can write; "You fight the Americans, you die." must be on some kind of trip. The evidence seems to be that in Iraq when you fight the Americans a lot of people die. Some of them are innocents, some of them are Iraqi military or police, some are Americans and some are insurgents.

Not a trip, just a realistic assessment of vastly superior American armed forces. You seem all too eager to believe that American soldiers kill indiscriminately. There is no evidence of that. You also seem ready to believe that all the dead of the war, including the civilians blown up by the terrorists, should be laid at the feet of the Americans as being their fault. This is warped. This is a war, the insurgents have chosen their tactics.
