They Just Couldn’t Be That Dumb, Could They?
-- Jayson
Following up on Poli’s post (Textbook Bias) regarding the AP’s latest slate of Democrat talking points on the upcoming SCOTUS nomination process, I can’t help but wonder if the mediaDemocrats possibly could be stupid enough actually to filibuster (or even to try to filibuster) whomever is nominated to replace Justice O’Connor.
After all, this is not the Fall of 1987 anymore. The mediaDemocrats no longer control virtually 100 percent of the flow of information to the general public. Hell, the very fact I just wrote that sentence, and that you’re reading it, demonstrates just how far things have come along in that regard.
At one level, it’s hard for me to believe the Democrat puppet masters would risk alienating so many additional mainstream voters on account of the insane rantings of rich liberals, Vietnam-era war protesters (who never left their campuses), liberal college students, and the abortion-on-demand lobbies. I mean, seriously, if they flip out and go mental this year, will they even have 42 U.S. Senate seats as of Jan. 2007???
On the other hand, the mediaDemocrats have demonstrated a rather-astonishing ability over the past 20-odd years to be stricken by political cement head syndrome. From Michael “tough on crime” Dukakis, to Bill “national health care plan” Clinton, to Al “class warfare” Gore, to Senate Majority Leader Tom D . . . oh, right, never mind.
So, it will be interesting to watch how they deal with this latest challenge to peace and tranquility in their alternative reality zone.
Interesting in roughly the same way that a train wreck is interesting.
