According to the NCES, California spent $7,552 per student in 2002-03. The national median was $7,574

i assume that includes all school activities like sports, music (school band), gym, etc. Perhaps expenses for heating, and other items should be broken out to find teacher available hours vs total student hours. would we come up with a better comparison of expenses per district per student for education.

more money per student has to be spent on heating in the northeast vs Calf. and the break out of expenses may show that considering adjusted expenses , ca. spends more per student than realized.
